What’s the plan? What are we going to do about (it)?
Believe it or not, the plan is not to do nothing.
Imagine male caregiving in a state much kinder, gentler, and more engaging than the place it’s in now. Make the right choice! Care for those with whom we inhabit the world.
Each and every person counts. But renewal is not going to happen because of some convenient personal rescue.
Recovery takes a one-by-one, one-at-a-time, once-again approach to dealing with upheaval. Salvation is more than deliverance or escape. It is a commitment to maintaining a life-giving response.
· Don’t take away enjoyable things that nurture people.
· Share optimism. Build hope. Stay connected.
· Do the right thing even when you don’t want to. Even though it may be easier to let go. Even if it feels wrong.
But don’t act without permission, buy-in, consensus, or agreement.
We can do it if we try. Life flashes before our eyes–Why wait until we are too old to be motivated for change?
There’s a certain freedom that comes from knowing you’ve got nothing left to lose–except for this final chance.
