Anticipate that caregiving duties will lead you to grieve at some point. Do not be afraid to grieve. Grief is a natural consequence of having invested personal commitment in the value of someone or something and then losing it. Love does not necessitate grief but neither does grief validate love. If you can, find a way to spend your allocation of grief time in service of others. At the very least it will help take your mind off your own grief.
