Formation of Coping Skills – Exercise #22 (Coping with Change)

If it seems like this site is all Helter Skelter with its organization and layout, that is because it is. There is not a formal plan to revamp the presentations and paint caregiving in a clean, rosy picture.

If you are new to caregiving, the sooner you come to grips with this reality the better.

Again, if it seems like this site is all Helter Skelter with its organization and layout but you want to revise it, more power to you. Possibly we could help each other. Maybe we can collaborate. Probably we should learn to cope with change.

Okay, okay, okay…in the majority of situations, what is the one common element that you can change? Give up? It is yourself. You’re not going to undo reality with denial. Learn to change reality with acceptance.

This is your exercise. Practice saying this expression until it becomes part of you: “I am not able to (xxx) but I can (XXX) and this is the best gift I can give at this time.”
