Tough

All those instances of unrequited love in our past serve to toughen us up for harder times ahead. The caregiver is often left in difficult circumstances–between a rock and a hard place. The options are not pretty and the outlook is bleak.

Reconnect with sources of joy, goodness, and happiness. Become a font of life for others. Which is the more impossible task? Neither is easy.

There is rest at the end of the journey. Be assured: the caregiver must balance living in the head (“…that won’t happen because…”) with acting from the heart.

We savor peaceful moments. Find peace. Be at peace. Become a better caregiver and you’ll find rest for your weary soul.
