Daybreak

It’s a new day
The angst of the night has waned
I will not waste a breath caught up with what was…
What is and what will be are ahead of me now

I asked the Lord,
“Lord, how much more darkness is headed our way?”
But God would not answer questions uttered in misery.

Instead, I have learned to survive
I am an example of abject happiness
blind trust
wanton stupidity

I am aware of limits
There is no escape from destiny
Yet the future holds no fear
No anger is in hope for tomorrow
